PUBLIC VIEW'S TOWARDS EX-CONVICTS

Life is goes around. ‘We learnt from past mistake that we did‘because experience is the best teacher for us. Who are we to judge someone from past experience. Ex-convicts must face uphill battle after release from incarceration especially on public’s view. Some of them must have problem with the society in their life. So, there are some public’s views towards ex-convicts are Equal Opportunities in the society, Job Opportunities and must face with Society Punish Them For Life.

      The first public’s view towards ex-convicts is should be given them Equal Opportunities as other in the society (Category Achieves: Acceptance, 2012). What is public should given equal opportunities to ex-convicts is motivate them by just treating them normally. According to (Lochana, 2012) we can’t treat them like prisoner who had been jailed for ten years just because they did one wrong deed because everybody makes mistake. In addition, if we not treat them normally it is impossible that they might go back into their criminals. So, as a public must treat them normally like others. Besides that, we should treat them fairly without prejudice and discrimination means treat them similarly like others without comparison for them and public. In addition, we are not excluded them in any event and not keeping distance away from people (Mindy, 2012). Moreover, in given equal opportunities we should be given second time for them to prove that they have already changed. According to (Kaiqi, 2012) we can’t judge them based on the one mistake that they made means we can’t punishes them based on small or huge mistake that they did. Then, from other side as a public we should to forgive them and give a chance. In addition, According to (Carter, 2005) John Shegerian, a fresno businessman creating a new venture and giving them a second chance.

       The second view to ex-convicts is Job Opportunities for them. Employment is important for them to survive in life. So they need to get a job but some companies that would be employ them work if have any skill assessment and available resource. So that ex-convict should be especially diligent in accessing skill sets they bring to the market job (Chriss, n.d). In addition, they also have that skill during in the prison because they have training in that period. So that, they can use that skill to find a job. According to (Chriss, n.d) they have expert insight because at America, ex-convict can destroy which is erases the criminal record from the system but it is not available in all law and the process to obtain this varies from state to state. In the other side there have discrimination in job opportunities for ex-convicts (Metcalf, n.d) means risk of re-offending job. Some of companies are likely to reject most people with a criminal record. Moreover maybe they afraid if employ ex-convicts will damage their company reputation. In the other ways, some company will employ them but should have any qualification. So it is not fair to others that not have any qualification because 43 per cent at prison are without qualification. (Rolfe, n.d).

      Last is society punishes ex-convicts for life. Public can’t accept them but extending punish them after release from prison (Devan, 2004). According to (Manza, 2004) at America if ex-convict want to continue studies, they will be bar from opportunities for Pell Grants, the largest type of student loan. Besides that, the society also exclude them right to do that should for them. So if public not justify them right to survive, how they want to continue life after release from prison. The society also excludes them to get occupational licensing work, access to public housing or social program at America. Besides that, they also not get right to perform in political right to vote. According to (bush, n.d) society also stop their authorities for life. So, ex-convicts face serious challenges in securing stable housing. According to federal housing policies, all public-housing authorities, section 8 providers and federally assisted housing programs are permitted or required to deny housing to people with criminal convictions.

      The conclusion, right now most people cannot accept the existence of ex-convicts. Society thinks they are always done a wrong deed but we must believe on them because nobody is perfect. If they not get any support from public, it’s not impossible they will repeat the same mistake again. So, the public is the main factor to make sure they must have reasons why should throughout this problem together and public must give acceptance in view’s for ex-convicts.
